Welcome to the Defense Acquisition Academy. The Workforce Development & Corporate Services Division of Sinclair Community College will provide you with the training you need to be successful in the acquisition field. Our current course offerings reflect the training requirements for Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level I certifications in Contracting, Acquisition Logistics and Program Management. Certified acquisition personnel are not only highly sought after by the Department of Defense (DoD), but are also critical in non-defense agencies (U.S. Department of Energy, Homeland Security, U.S. and Ohio Department of Transportation, etc.). Successful completion of this training will increase your viability as a candidate for employment in these positions, and assist the region in meeting a critical workforce need by supporting the state's largest employer, the DoD organizations based at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Closely aligned with the hiring criteria of WPAFB, enrollment in this program is restricted to individuals meeting the following criteria:

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be able to pass a background and/or security investigation
  • Preference will be given to applicants that have degrees/experience in complementary subject areas including: business, cost estimating, finance, project management, technology, contract management, transportation, distribution, warehousing. These backgrounds, when combined with acquisition knowledge fit some of Wright Patterson's most critical needs.
  • Up to 50% of participant slots will be allocated to qualified, displaced workers
