Welcome to the Defense Acquisition Academy

Welcome to the Defense Acquisition Academy. The Workforce Development & Corporate Services Division of Sinclair Community College will provide you with the training you need to be successful in the acquisition field. Our current course offerings reflect the training requirements for Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level I certifications in Contracting and Acquisition Logistics. Certified acquisition personnel are not only highly sought after by the Department of Defense (DoD), but are also critical in non-defense agencies (U.S. Department of Energy, Homeland Security, U.S. and Ohio Department of Transportation, etc.). Successful completion of this training will increase your viability as a candidate for employment in these positions.

This training program is being developed as a workforce initiative that will offer qualified displaced and unemployed workers with training that will enable them secure new employment roles in the acquisition field, and assist the region in meeting a critical workforce need by supporting the state's largest employer, the DoD organizations based at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. As such, enrollment in this program is currently restricted to individuals meeting the following criteria:

  • Be currently displaced or unemployed and seeking full time employment
  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be able to pass a background and/or security investigation
  • Preference will be given to applicants that are displaced and have degrees/experience in complementary subject areas including: business, cost estimating, finance, project management, technology, contract management, transportation, distribution, warehousing. These backgrounds, when combined with acquisition knowledge fit some of Wright Patterson's most critical needs.
